On the evening of Moledet’s official launch, Tomer Eldar, Commander of the Senior Officers Training Program and former Commander of the Southern Border Police, took the stage and delivered remarks that touched the very core of Israeli identity. He opened with a verse from Psalms:
“Those who sow in tears shall reap in joy.”
For him, these are not merely words of prayer, but the essence of the story of the Hebrew farmer: a person who tills the land with cracked hands, standing against wind and danger alike, and who sees the soil not just as ground — but as memory, responsibility, and homeland.
Eldar emphasized that Israeli agriculture is a national line of defense — a quiet protective wall that safeguards the freedom and resilience of the State of Israel. Yet alongside this understanding, he stressed the obligation to translate vision into action: to build an operational and technological framework capable of protecting farmers and the nation’s lands.
And this, he said, is where Moledet comes in.
He described Moledet as a non-profit organization rooted in action — a body born out of the urgent need to restore a sense of security to farmers, to establish an operational–technological presence in the field, and to connect the pioneering spirit of the past with the Israeli innovation of today. It is a bridge between land and advanced systems, between the plow and the operations desk, between the lone farmer and an entire nation standing behind them.
“There is nothing more Zionist and Jewish than ensuring that tomorrow morning the farmer wakes up knowing — I am not alone.”
He concluded with a quote from David Ben-Gurion:
“Israel’s future exists first and foremost in agriculture.”
He explained that Moledet is not merely an idea — it is the continuation of a generational chain, a framework that strengthens the security, stability, and future of the State of Israel through tangible, day-to-day action on the ground.
